How to Setup Fax on HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 Printer?
Step 1: Requirements for a HP OJ Pro 6978 Fax Setup
- A Land line telephone network
- HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 Ink Cartridges Installed
- Load the Input Tray with a stack of plain paper especially for the Draft Mode printing
Step 2: Install the Fax Connection
- Find for the phone jack and then disconnect the attached Telephone device. Now connect the HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 to the phone jack using telephone cable
- Now check for the white protective form that is affixed to 2-EXT port and then remove it for Fax installation
- Now connect the answering machine to the 2-EXT port through the help of a phone cable
- Look for the 1-LINE port available in your printer and then connect the phone cable to it. Then its other end to the phone jack
- Touch Fax button that is available in the printer task bar and then tap Setup option
- Touch Preferences and then scroll the menu list to select Rings to Answer tab
- Now you can change the auto answer settings from two rings to more number of rings and then get your printer to receive faxes automatically

- Open a fax document and then click Print button
